About the event
Workshop description:
Indigenous Science & Trauma Healing
Sunday, October 13, 2-4pm
Trauma’s meaning, causes and methods of healing differ by culture and cosmology. In Western science, trauma is typically defined as profound wounding that damages a person’s ability to trust in life and self, resulting in existential crises. In Indigenous science, all disease including trauma is indicative of “disruption in the natural order of humans’ interactions with the spirit world,” such as failure to honour the spiritual realm, failure to honour one’s ancestors, neglecting cultural rituals or religious ceremonies, or losing faith in the Creator. To deepen your knowledge of Indigenous science and its perspectives on trauma healing, join Valerie for a workshop at Providencia!
A copy of Valerie's book Healing through Indigenous Wisdom is included for all participants: https://www.simonandschuster.com/books/Healing-through-Indigenous-Wisdom/Valerie-Ringland/9781922786203
